Artist Statement: Joseph Galvin (b. 1976) is an award winning Welsh artist based in Cardiff. A graduate from Canterbury School of Art (KIAD), in 2007 he became the first recipient of the Bulldog Portrait Bursary for excellence, awarded by the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. The following year he received the prestigious international prize, the Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Award for figurative/representational painting. Joseph has exhibited with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters on numerous occasions, and has had work included in the Wales Portrait Award. With a strong focus on portraiture, Joseph’s work continues a painting tradition that is inspired by people, and the world around him.
