GWYN ROBERTS
Gwyn Roberts studied fine art at Norwich in the 1970s. Throughout the 1980s, when he exhibited widely in galleries across Britain, his use of paint was intricate. Teaching and raising a family intervened. Now, with restricted movement in his thumb joint following an accident, his use of paint has changed drastically. What could have been a restriction has proved liberating, causing him to develop a new freedom of style. His use of the palette knife, and his love of Welsh landscapes, evoke memories of the late Sir Kyffin Williams, but Roberts has distinguished himself with a subtle, varied use of colour that perhaps links back to his earlier painting style.
