Lynne was born in 1964 in Wellington, New Zealand and grew up in Cornwall when her family returned to the UK in 1967. She studied art at Falmouth Art College and then Cardiff Art College attaining a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree in 1987 when one of her figurative paintings was selected for the Whitworth Young Contemporaries. Lynne has lived in Wales since 1984 and was elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy of the Arts in 2017. “Painting is my way of processing experiences: visual; tactile; spatial and emotional. Observational drawing underpins the process, although I don’t always work directly from life. I’m inventing a painterly pictorial space with its own set of parameters. Flowers are important subject matter. I am drawn to their vitality, and I love the way they absorb, reflect, and affect the passage of light. My hope is that my paintings will have their own vitality and presence that will resonate with other people.”
