Peter Morgan was born in Pembrokeshire in 1970 and studied Building Design at Pembrokeshire College. He is most well-known for his dramatic whitewashed cottages hidden behind stone walls. Working mainly in acrylics, embracing a range of techniques including glazing, impasto and direct painting. He paints using layers of texture and colour to create an image on either card or canvas. The work evolves from pencil sketches and colour notes made on the day which are subsequently developed into small studies in his studio. The landscape of Pembrokeshire and in the wider context, Wales, provides an idyllic heaven for Peter. In his paintings he seeks to capture the many different faces; the rugged coast, the farm buildings, a derelict cottage, the rural chapel or the meandering contours of the valley. Peter feels that Pembrokeshire lends itself perfectly for his subject, with its ever changing light and weather which makes every sketch a different experience no matter how many times it is revisited.
