Born in Ebbw Vale in 1952 Phil Parry studied Fine Art at Newport and Cardiff colleges of Art from 1972-1977. He has lived in Cardiff since then, and from 1977 exhibited widely in Wales and England. He has shown at The National Eisteddfod, The National Museum of Wales, The National Portrait Gallery and The Mall galleries London, The Royal West of England Academy and many other major galleries. Formerly a figurative painter, a commission to paint coastal scenes around Broadhaven in 1992 led him to concentrate his attention on the coast of South and West Wales. Topographical references in his paintings are often quite incidental to the constantly changing colour and light reflected in the sea, sand and sky. His paintings often convey a still, quiet, poetic mood and atmosphere. His work is held in private and public collections in the UK
